LIB DEMS MANIFESTO MAKES STRONG COMMITMENT TO ELDERLY

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 1st Jun 2000

Lib Dems launched their new policies to the elderly today.

"This manifest has made clear our strong commitment to the elderly and the disabled. Since we started our petition to Gordon Brown asking for a real increase in pensions I have had hundreds of responses, including some heartbreaking letters from people who cannot meet rising costs. It is time that the government started treating those in need with dignity and decency. Our proposals do just that."
